Special Session 38: Evolution Dynamics in Ecology and Epidemiology

چکیده
We modeled the landscape dispersal process as a diffusion equation system, which describes the movements of insects around an interior boundary between two habitat types. For quantifying the diffusion parameters, the model with discontinuous diffusion rates within the composite medium, and with the absorbing exterior boundaries need to be solved. Two cases were studied: 1) Rectangular filed. 2) Circular field.

Special Session 14: Mathematical Models in Biology and Medicine
This special session emphasizes the dual roles of both theory and applications of dynamical systems and di↵erential equations to mathematical models in biology and medicine. Recent advances within mathematical ecology (including competition between species, predator-prey and cooperative systems, and evolutionary theory) will be presented alongside those for mathematical models in various fields...
متن کاملEpidemiology meets evolutionary ecology
The rapid expansion and increasing mobility of human populations make understanding the evolution of parasite virulence a public health priority. The potential for the swift evolution of virulence in response to changes in host ecology has motivated the integration of evolutionary ecology with epidemiological theory, as part of the emerging field of evolutionary epidemiology. Virulence is the p...
متن کاملEmerging pathogens: the epidemiology and evolution of species jumps.
Novel pathogens continue to emerge in human, domestic animal, wildlife and plant populations, yet the population dynamics of this kind of biological invasion remain poorly understood. Here, we consider the epidemiological and evolutionary processes underlying the initial introduction and subsequent spread of a pathogen in a new host population, with special reference to pathogens that originate...
متن کاملDisease effects on lobster fisheries, ecology, and culture: overview of DAO Special 6.
Lobsters are prized by commercial and recreational fishermen worldwide, and their populations are therefore buffeted by fishery practices. But lobsters also remain integral members of their benthic communities where predator-prey relationships, competitive interactions, and host-pathogen dynamics push and pull at their population dynamics. Although lobsters have few reported pathogens and paras...
